Custom software development in Ghana

Off-the-shelf software assumes your business works the way the vendor imagined. Most Ghanaian businesses do not. A salon that also sells hair, a school that runs its own payroll, a landlord managing exchanges across six estates: none of these fit a template, and forcing them to costs more in workarounds than the licence ever saved.

Custom software means the system matches how the business actually runs. I build platforms where several applications share one API and one permission model, so a change to a rule happens in one place rather than five. The work starts with the data model and the permission map, because those are the decisions that become expensive to reverse once real customer records are sitting on top of them.

What that includes

Domain modelling

We map what the business actually does, then design the schema and the permission matrix around it, before any interface is drawn.

Multi-role platforms

Separate applications for staff, customers, administrators and partners, all served by one API with access enforced server side.

Reporting and audit

Every action that touches money or records is written to an audit trail from the first release, not added later when someone asks who changed what.

Migration from what you have

Existing data, spreadsheets and legacy systems moved across with their history intact, and old behaviour reproduced where it still matters.

Common questions

How much does custom software cost in Ghana?
It depends entirely on scope, and any developer who quotes before understanding the scope is guessing. A single-purpose internal tool is a different order of cost from a multi-role platform with payments. I scope in writing first, with fixed deliverables, so you see the number before committing. Terms are a 50% deposit and the balance on delivery.
How long does a custom software project take?
A focused internal system is usually weeks. A multi-application platform with payments, roles and reporting is months. You see running software in stages throughout, rather than a single reveal at the end, so timelines stay honest.
Do I own the software you build?
Yes. On full payment, all intellectual property in the deliverables transfers to you. It ships on infrastructure in your name, with credentials, runbooks and architecture notes, so another engineer can take it over without me.
Can you take over software someone else built?
Often, yes. I have rebuilt a legal case tracker from vanilla PHP into React and PostgreSQL, converting the schema one to one and reimplementing the old database triggers in the API layer, with every existing case preserved. The first step is an assessment of what is there.
